JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 23 – Various initiatives are being undertaken to ensure a continuous treated water supply in Johor, particularly when facing constraints involving raw water resources.
Among the technical measures undertaken are the transfer of raw water from nearby sources, desalination processes, as well as the use of pontoons to assist in channelling water to the intake points of water treatment plants (WTPs).
At the same time, awareness campaigns on the importance of using clean water responsibly, as well as close cooperation with state and federal agencies, continue to be strengthened to ensure that the people of Johor have access to treated water supply.
As a complement to the physical efforts, Ranhill SAJ is also undertaking spiritual efforts through the organisation of congregational Istisqa’ prayer programmes at open areas.
The prayer, which is prescribed to seek rainfall from Allah SWT, has been conducted at several strategic locations since Sept 14.
The series of prayers began at the intake point of Lok Heng WTP, Kota Tinggi, with the presence of Sedili State Assemblyman Muszaide Makmor.
This was followed by a similar programme at Gunung Pulai Dam, Kulai yesterday, which was attended by Pontian District Officer, Mohd Farid Hassan.
Today, the programme continued at Sungai Lebam Dam, Kota Tinggi, which was also attended by Tanjung Surat State Assemblyman, Aznan Tamin, and Penawar State Assemblywoman, Fauziah Misri.

Sembrong Dam (Sept 24)
Sembrong Timur WTP Intake (Sept 29)
Machap Dam (Oct 2)
